Believe it or not, one cigarette could cause additction. Nicotine is very addictive. If you continue to smoke, you can damage your lungs, your heart, your throat, tougue, and gums. One time causes some damage, but your lungs will heal themselves from that in just a day.

Does that answer your question?

The dangerous affect that come from second hand cigarette smoke are mostly the result of the tar present in cirgarettes (yes nicotene may have a slight effect, but I have never heard of widespread nicotene addiction from second hand smoke) There are other minor chemicals but most of the damage to the physical system I believe happens because of tar (though I have no scientific proof to back this up, because I don't feel like looking for it) Tar is also formed when marijuana is smoked, however I do not know the relative quantities between tar formed from burning tabacco vs. burning cannibus, so I do not know which is more dangerous. There is an increased risk of getting lung cancer from smoking weed, however scientists don't yet know if there is an higher or lower probability of lung cancer between the two, probably because in most places where they can do the research, it is illegal to do the research. I do think that the chances of a second hand high are a lot higher with marijuana then with cigarettes, however, I do not think there is any increase in the chance of addiction.

The only thing dangerous about smoking one cigarette is that it may lead to to another one. That's it. Health-wise, one cigarette will literally do nothing.

Actually, smoking one cigarette every so often isn't dangerous either. But there does need to be quite a bit of time in between each cigarette.

Don't get addicted!

DON'T smoke another cigarette! People really don't understand (or don't care) about the LIFE THREATENING effects of nicotine. Here are a few factors involved below:

Lung cancer...

Mouth Cancer

Second hand smoke (do you really want to put your children at risk for your mistake?)

Emphysema

Your hair gets brittle and breaks (imagine the effects of straightening..except WAY worse)

Yellow teeth (now come on, who likes that?)

Smoking is addicting (duh?!)

Save yourself the trouble and quit while it's still easy

* Smoking just one cigarette lowers the blood levels of Vitamin C in your body.

* It also lowers the levels of other important antioxidants in your body for sometime.

* It stops blood vessel walls from releasing nitric oxide, a substance that helps them relax and open.

* These changes combine to pinch the coronary arteries. The narrowed blood vessels make it difficult to deliver oxygen-rich blood to the hard working heart muscle.

* And yes, it is bad for your memory. It has been found that men who smoke heavily start losing their memory during their 40s and 50s, but men who don’t smoke have better memories.

So yeah,i wouldnt do it again,as the effects only worsen :)

@ Dirtybird yelling at me for posting scientific stuff, i didnt say that 1 puff would give you cancer :D

and i dont work for the propagandist groups, these are all proven facts...so you truly need to do SOME research,as i bet you've never even looked up what the harmful effects are :P

what about the beneficial effects?see a list of those?

in fact, the last reason i listed was only after years of smoking...

so do some research,honey,kthxbi.

The guy listing all the "scientific" stuff about ONE cigarette probably works for one of those anti-smoking propaganda groups that flub all the numbers and facts to exaggerate their point.

One cigarette will perhaps put a bad taste in your mouth. It WILL regulate your breathing if it is sped up or irregular (thus, cigarette after sex). You might get a "nicotine buzz" as well, especially if you're not a regular smoker.

Don't buy into all the unproven "facts", one popularly believed. ie, one puff of cigarette smoke could give you cancer.

Trust me don't get started.I started smoking when i was in the freshmen year of high school (9).I thought well i would just smoke 1 and never do it again but then i got HOOKED but i've only smoken 5 and i am trying to quit. It's not as easy as people who don't smoke think it is.If you do continue here are some things that might get you to stop.

1.you're breath will really smell bad.

2.you're clothes will smell like smoke.

3.you're hands will smell like smoke.

4you're food will taste bad

5you're probably going to have health problems and or cancer.

6and you're hair will be really sprayed out. (stringy)

and probably you're parents might find out so PLEASE STOP WHILE IT"S STILL PRETTY EASY!!!!

Smoking just one can't hurt you in any way. One isn't even addictive... i think i smoked about 30 before i actually felt like i needed them, but even then it was easy to stop.

I would'nt try, the nicatine in the cigarates will get you addicted fast. After that it's all downhill. You will spend lots of money on new packs, have problems in the future, hurt those around you (second hand smoke), and and just won't end up good.

if you smoke one cigarette nothing will happen. prologed smoking can have serious health problems but one won't do anything
just me
2008-03-04 16:17:13 UTC
As long as you do not get addicted to the nicottine, it wont be harmful.

Just try not to do it a lot, it will then, in fact, be harmfull.
